EFFECTIVE JANUARY 4, 2021, THE COUNTY TREASURER WILL CHARGE A $5 FACILITY FEE FOR ALL TITLE TRANSACTIONS SUCH AS RENEWALS, NEW REGISTRATIONS, REPO’S, POSSESSORARY LEINS, AND COMMERCIAL TITLE TRANSACTIONS PERFORMED IN THE COURTHOUSE.
Janice Van Parys serves as the County Treasurer for Leavenworth County.
The County Treasurer is elected to a four-year term in the year of a Presidential Election. The term begins in October after the general election. Janice was elected to her first term in November 2012 and took office in October of 2013. She began working for Leavenworth County in January 2001.
The County Treasurers Office is responsible for collection of real estate, personal property and motor vehicle taxes, special assessments and other miscellaneous taxes for Leavenworth County. The Treasurer apportions and distributes such revenue to local taxing units. In addition, the Treasurer is responsible for the title and registration application of motor vehicles, driver’s license renewals at the Tonganoxie Annex, and performs the function of a bank for all revenue-generating County departments and invests tax dollars.

In addition to collecting taxes and registering vehicles, the Annex can:
· Renew driver licenses on Tuesday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., as long as you do not have a CDL. Note: If you need to change your state of residence on your license, you will need to go to a Kansas DMV location.
· Renew ID Cards for individuals that do not have a CDL, and only issue ID Cards for individuals that are age 16 and under or has disabilities
· Register voters
· Sell County maps
Drivers License Renewals are currently closed due to Covid sanitizing requirements.
We now accept Master Card, Visa, Discover, and Debit Cards as forms of payment for vehicle registration and tax payments, when you come into our office. We do not accept American Express. Note: There is a 2.65% convenience fee charged by the credit card companies that goes directly to that company.

Normal office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, due to Covid-19 and sanitizing efforts, the office close at 5:00 p.m. It is at the discretion of the Supervisor to determine if a new title transaction can be done after 4:30 to finish by 5 p.m.

If you have done an online renewal of your registration/tags, please allow 14 days for processing.
COMMERCIAL VEHICLE REGISTRATION:
Commercial registration hours are 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Both the Leavenworth and Tonganoxie locations can process commercial registrations.
